Research from the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation — one of the largest studies of its kind — found that bone density declines substantially during late perimenopause and continues into the early postmenopausal years.
Around 25% of women experience a particularly accelerated loss of bone mineral density during the menopausal transition.
Most women don't feel this happening — until they do.

In 2021 I couldn't walk to my daughter's house.
She lives 6 minutes away. Six minutes. And I couldn't do it.
The foot pain was that bad. Forget cute shoes — I was just trying to get through the day. And the stairs? I took every single step with intention. One at a time. Holding on. Thinking about it.
I had quietly accepted that this was just my life now.
Then I started giving my body the minerals and nutritional support it had been missing. Slowly — things shifted. The pain got quieter. Then quieter still.
Today I don't think about the stairs. I just go up them.
